Prabowo Pledges to Elevate the Impoverished and End Poverty

President Prabowo Subianto is dedicated to uplifting the impoverished population through a series of flagship programs aimed at not just addressing immediate needs, but also at creating a path for future generations to escape poverty. Deputy Minister of Social Affairs, Agus Jabo Priyono, highlighted the key initiatives such as Sekolah Rakyat (People’s School), Kopdes Merah Putih (Village Cooperatives), and MBG (Free Nutritious Meals) during a discussion on accelerating the success of these programs. These initiatives are designed to disrupt the intergenerational cycle of poverty and restore dignity to those living in impoverished conditions. The government’s goal is to eradicate extreme poverty by 2026 and reduce the overall national poverty rate to below 5 percent by 2029 through a combination of social interventions and community empowerment programs. Adita Irawati, a Senior Expert at the Presidential Communications Office, emphasized the three-pronged strategy to combat poverty, including the People’s School initiative, the Red-and-White Village Cooperatives, and Free Health Checks in Schools. The administration is actively working towards reaching millions of Indonesians with these programs, aiming to foster self-sufficiency, stimulate local economies, and empower communities to meet their own needs. President Prabowo is set to launch the Kopdes Merah Putih program to establish cooperatives nationwide, further promoting village empowerment and creating livelihood opportunities for the population.
