The atmosphere was filled with solemnity during the flag-lowering ceremony commemorating Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day at the Merdeka Palace. Titi Nurdianti, a Jakarta resident originally from Cilacap, Central Java, expressed her pride and deep emotions during the event. Titi described the experience as overwhelming and moving, as it was her first time attending. She vividly recounted the excitement of participating in the ticket ‘war’ with other Indonesians and the joy of finally securing a ticket for the flag-lowering ceremony. This special moment had a profound impact on her, as she had only watched the ritual on television before. On August 17, 2025, she had the opportunity to witness it in person, dressed in traditional attire from West Nusa Tenggara. The festive parade following the flag-lowering ceremony added to the grandeur of the Independence Day celebration, creating lasting memories for Titi. Amidst tears and joy, she offered prayers and hopes for Indonesia’s future, expressing optimism for continued progress, prosperity, justice, and peace.
