Tears of Gratitude in the SPPG Kitchen
In Serdang Bedagai, emotions filled the air on July 30, 2025, as Aslina shared her heartwarming story of transformation. Working at the Nutritional Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) in Cempedak Lobang, Sei Rampah, just a stone’s throw away from her home, she expressed her deep appreciation for the life-changing program. Surrounded by regional leaders Hasan Nasbi and North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution, Aslina couldn’t help but shed tears of joy as she thanked the President for the program’s positive impact on her daily life.
Before becoming a part of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, Aslina devoted her time to being a full-time homemaker with no source of income, while her husband worked as a laborer with meager earnings. However, thanks to the program, she now plays a crucial role in preparing healthy meals for school children in her community, bringing a newfound sense of hope and purpose to her life. Normawati, another participant, also shared how the opportunity to earn extra income near her home has been life-changing for her and her family, especially her children who benefit from the nutritious meals provided by the MBG program.
The impact of the program goes beyond just housewives, as demonstrated by the story of 21-year-old Shinta Ramadana. Previously unemployed, Shinta now thrives in her role in food preparation with unmatched enthusiasm, embodying the empowerment and transformation brought about by the MBG Program. These women, including Aslina, Norma, and Shinta, are just a few examples of individuals nationwide who have found employment and renewed hope through this initiative, according to data from the National Nutrition Agency.
More than just providing nutritious meals, the MBG Program represents empowerment and transformation. It has transformed kitchens into spaces of opportunity and hope, where individuals can find meaningful work and personal growth.
