President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, visited Sentosa Funeral Home at RSPAD Gatot Subroto, Central Jakarta, to pay his respects to the late Kwik Kian Gie, a prominent economist and respected national statesman. Upon his arrival, he was warmly welcomed by the relatives and family of Kwik Kian Gie, before proceeding to the chamber where the deceased lay in repose. With great reverence, Prabowo honored Kwik Kian Gie, known for his advocacy of Pancasila-based economics. Kwik, a well-known economist and political figure, passed away at the age of 90 on July 28, 2025. For Prabowo, Kwik was more than just an economist; he was a friend and mentor who provided valuable insights into the nation’s development. President Prabowo expressed his condolences, acknowledging Kwik’s significant contributions to defending the Pancasila economy and upholding Article 33 of the Constitution. Reflecting on his personal bond with Kwik, Prabowo shared how Kwik had consistently offered advice and thoughtful perspectives over the years. Despite his illness, Kwik remained actively engaged until his final days, sending messages and recommendations to the President. Prabowo recalled receiving a WhatsApp message from Kwik just days before his passing, showcasing his dedication to Indonesia until the end. Today, Indonesia mourns the loss of one of its finest sons, Kwik Kian Gie, a revered figure whose wisdom and guidance will be dearly missed.
