BGN Temporarily Suspends Nutrition Services in East Nusa Tenggara: Impact and Updates

The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has temporarily suspended the operations of its Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) after substandard food was found in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program. Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to the BGN, stated that the affected SPPG units will remain closed until investigations are complete and all MBG food samples are fully tested in the laboratory. BGN has joined forces with independent institutions, local health and education departments to determine the cause of the issue while ensuring the wellbeing of affected students is closely monitored. BGN expresses their sincere apologies to the students, parents, schools, and all affected parties, emphasizing their commitment to zero negligence in food procurement and distribution. The agency is collaborating with local government authorities to swiftly and effectively respond to the situation, implementing corrective measures such as stricter partner screening, improved hygiene standards, and the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to enhance food safety standards. BGN reassures the public that the MBG Program will maintain its intended benefits without compromising health, with ongoing support and vigilance from all stakeholders.
