Rama, a 38-year-old single mother from Bogor Regency, West Java, found solace in the government’s Sekolah Rakyat (People’s School) for her son, Ridwan. The school, located in Sentra Terpadu Inten Suweno, Cibinong, Bogor, provided more than just tuition-free education for Ridwan – it offered him dignity, kindness, and genuine care, as observed by Rama herself during an interview on a Monday in July 2025.
Struggling to make ends meet after the passing of her first husband, Rama was initially reluctant to send Ridwan to school after completing elementary education. However, a social worker’s visit changed everything when Ridwan was selected for the fully funded residential education program. Witnessing firsthand how the school treated her son with order, care, and attention brought tears of joy to Rama’s eyes. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity that restored hope for her family amid financial hardship.
Ridwan, who previously faced bullying due to his struggles with reading, now enjoys a safe environment at Sekolah Rakyat. Rama dreams of her son’s success, hoping he will thrive and become a successful young man despite their challenging circumstances. She took a moment to extend her heartfelt thanks to President Prabowo Subianto and the program’s supporters for providing hope and education to families like hers.
Through Sekolah Rakyat, Ridwan not only returned to learning but also regained his confidence, while Rama rediscovered hope for a brighter future. This heartwarming story underscores the impact of accessible education and genuine care from the state in transforming the lives of vulnerable citizens.
