NTT Mother Witnesses Benefits of Free School Meals for Child

Ester Nenggokaka, a resident of Southwest Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, exemplifies resilience and determination in facing life’s challenges. Despite leading a simple life, she is dedicated to providing the best for her two children. Through selling vegetables in the morning and caring for her family, Ester showcases her unwavering commitment.

Ester’s two-year-old son, Lorensius Aganta, was underweight, weighing only 7 kilograms before receiving meals from the Free Nutritious Meal (Makan Bergizi Gratis, MBG) program. Ester expressed her gratitude for this initiative, noting the positive impact it had on her son’s health. With the regular distribution of MBG meals, Ester has observed a noticeable increase in her son’s weight, leading her to eagerly anticipate the next health check at the local community clinic to monitor his progress.

Every morning, Ester receives a nutritious selection of food items such as eggs, fish, meat, tofu, tempeh, and vegetables for her children, ensuring they maintain a balanced diet. Alongside acknowledging the support of the MBG program, Ester looks to the future with hope. She envisions a brighter tomorrow and hopes for additional assistance from President Prabowo to improve their living standards.

Despite facing challenging circumstances without access to electricity or land ownership, Ester finds comfort in the nourishing meals that contribute to her child’s well-being and foster optimism for the future.
