French President Emmanuel Macron recently paid a visit to Indonesia, underscoring the deep and meaningful partnership between the two nations. Macron emphasized that the relationship between Indonesia and France goes beyond just symbolism, but represents a genuine and robust cooperation. During his visit, President Prabowo Subianto warmly welcomed Macron at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.
Macron expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and highlighted the opportunity to enhance the strategic partnership between France and Indonesia. He underscored the significance of collaboration in various areas such as the economy, technology, security, and culture.
The diplomatic ties between Indonesia and France have been maintained for 75 years, with notable advancements over the past decade. Macron also acknowledged Indonesia’s role in upholding regional stability in the Indo-Pacific region and pointed out the advancements in bilateral defense cooperation, renewable energy, transportation, and energy transition initiatives.
Cultural exchange was a focal point for Macron as well, with a cultural agreement set to be signed at the Borobudur Temple complex as a symbolic gesture of the deepening friendship between the two countries. Macron expressed his appreciation to President Prabowo for the gracious welcome and expressed optimism for ongoing collaborative efforts during his two-day official trip to Indonesia.
