After Visiting Four Countries, Prabowo Subianto Continues to Malaysia, Starting with a Meeting with Sultan Ibrahim

Malaysia – Indonesian Defense Minister and President-elect Prabowo Subianto met with the King of Malaysia, His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim, during his first official visit to Malaysia on Saturday, September 7.

The meeting focused on various strategic issues, with Prabowo emphasizing his commitment to exploring more areas of cooperation between Indonesia and Malaysia.

“I value the strong relationship between our two countries and will continue to strive to enhance our cooperation, especially in the defense sector,” Prabowo said.

“I appreciate your well wishes, and I hope our partnership continues to grow for our mutual benefit,” he added.

Prabowo and Sultan Ibrahim have been close friends for more than 40 years, having formed their bond during their military training together at Fort Bragg, USA.

During their warm meeting, both leaders expressed hope that bilateral cooperation between the two nations would remain strong, especially with the upcoming 44th General Border Committee (GBC) Malindo meeting, aimed at fostering collaboration on border issues.

Prabowo’s visit to Malaysia follows his working trips to four other countries—Brunei Darussalam, Laos, and Cambodia—as well as a personal visit to Thailand, where he met former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and the newly elected Prime Minister, Paetongtarn Shinawatra. (RR)
